Our Story

About The Technician Dojo

Master Steven Hatfield brings decades of martial arts experience and a practical, no-nonsense approach to training at The Technician Dojo. His background spans traditional and modern martial arts, with a foundation in Goju Ryu (Okinawan Karate) and training completed in Japan and Okinawa.

The system he created, Ryu-Saiichi-Do Kenpo Karate Jutsu, is a modern expression of those traditional foundations, designed for practical self-defense in the real world. Rather than treating Karate, Judo, and Jujutsu as separate disciplines, Master Hatfield helps students understand how striking, throwing, grappling, joint manipulation, and defensive tactics work together.

Students are encouraged to explore why techniques work, recognize when they are appropriate, and develop the ability to apply fundamental principles under changing circumstances. Progression is individually based. The Technician Dojo is not a belt factory.

Master Steven Hatfield

Headmaster

Master Steven Hatfield is the creator of Ryu-Saiichi-Do Kenpo Karate Jutsu and headmaster of The Technician Dojo. He trained in Karate in Japan and Okinawa, with a foundation in Goju Ryu, and was named headmaster of Wae-Kune Do Karate in 2024.

Instructor

Master Jennifer (Ame) Davis holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in RSD Karate, a 4th Degree Purple Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, and Tenshinkido Menkyo Shoden License Level 1.

Sensei Simone (DOT) Hager-Alexander

Instructor

Sensei Simone (DOT) Hager-Alexander holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in RSD Karate, a Purple Belt in Judo and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, and Tenshinkido Menkyo Shoden License Level 1.
