What the first month covers

Doors open at 6:15 pm. Beginners meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Each class runs 1 hour.

In the first month, students cover:

• Basic karate stances and movement
• Fundamental striking techniques
• Practical self-defense fundamentals
• Balance, coordination, and physical conditioning
• Mental preparedness and confidence
• Dojo etiquette, respect, and discipline
• Introduction to partner training

Intermediate and advanced students continue to the 7:30 and 8:30 pm classes on the same evenings. Private 1-on-1 sessions are available by appointment on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The system behind the classes

The art taught here is Ryu-Saiichi-Do Kenpo Karate Jutsu, a self-defense system created by Master Steven Hatfield. Its foundation is Goju Ryu, an Okinawan Karate style known for its combination of close-range striking, body conditioning, and practical application. Master Hatfield trained in Karate in Japan and Okinawa, and holds stewardship of Wae-Kune Do Karate, a lineage founded in 1969 by Grandmaster Clarence West, of which he was named headmaster in 2024.

Students learn striking, grappling principles, joint mechanics, and Okinawa weapons alongside empty-hand technique as they progress past the beginner level. Progression is individually based, with no fixed timeline to the next belt. The Technician Dojo is not a belt factory.

Ages: 4 and up. No prior experience, flexibility, or athletic background required.

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Beginners: 6:30 to 7:30 pm
Intermediate: 7:30 to 8:30 pm
Advanced: 8:30 to 9:30 pm
Private 1-on-1: Thursday, Saturday, Sunday by appointment

Trial: 1 month, $75, includes a t-shirt.

Agreements: 6-month and 1-year agreements are available after the trial.
